Reference Activities

Pursuant to Part 1 of Article 28 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On State Control of Food Safety”, by Government Decision No. 1448-N of 16 September 2022, the Government of the Republic of Armenia established the procedure for designating national reference state testing laboratories in the fields of food safety, veterinary medicine and phytosanitary control.

The purpose of this procedure is to confirm or refute the accuracy and reliability of the results of tests (measurements) performed by other laboratories for specific parameters of products subject to mandatory conformity assessment and constituting objects of technical regulation; to ensure the uniformity of measurements in the field of reference activities through the application of measurement traceability; to ensure and recognize, in the Republic of Armenia, the test (measurement) results provided by the reference laboratory as final and reliable results in cases where conflicting test (measurement) results arise in the field of reference activities; and to ensure the availability of reference services to producers, control authorities, and other persons wishing to use such services.

As a result, by Order No. 866-L of the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia dated 25 March 2025, the State Non-Commercial Organization “Republican Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services Centre” was designated as the national reference state testing laboratory in the field of food safety for specific microbiological testing (measurement) parameters.
