The Especially Dangerous Pathogens Reference Testing Laboratory, operating within the “Republican Veterinary-Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services Center” SNCO (RVSLPSC SNCO), has successfully completed its latest periodic assessment of compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 35001:2019, Biorisk Management for Laboratories and Other Related Organisations.
The periodic assessment was conducted on 10 August 2026 by Bureau Veritas, an internationally recognized organization operating in the fields of testing, inspection, and certification.
During the assessment, the processes related to the implementation and effectiveness of the biorisk management system at the Special Dangerous Pathogens Reference Testing Laboratory were reviewed, including the implementation of relevant procedures and the level of continued compliance with the requirements of ISO 35001:2019.
Based on the assessment results, the Special Dangerous Pathogens Reference Testing Laboratory of the RVSLPSC SNCO successfully maintained its certification status for compliance with the requirements of the ISO 35001:2019 international standard.
Within the scope of ISO 35001:2019, the laboratory’s activities include the identification, assessment, and management of biorisks associated with diagnostic, scientific, and monitoring activities involving diseases of terrestrial and aquatic animals, including diseases caused by special dangerous pathogens.
The successful completion of the periodic assessment is important for ensuring the continued effectiveness of the biorisk management system at the Special Dangerous Pathogens Reference Testing Laboratory of the RVSLPSC SNCO, maintaining a high level of biosafety and biosecurity, and ensuring that laboratory activities comply with international requirements.
It is noteworthy that the Special Dangerous Pathogens Reference Testing Laboratory of the RVSLPSC SNCO is among the state laboratory facilities operating in the Republic of Armenia that are certified for compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 35001:2019, Biorisk Management Systems.
The RVSLPSC SNCO will continue its efforts to continuously improve the management systems of its laboratories, maintain a high level of biosafety and biosecurity, strengthen professional capacities, and provide laboratory services in accordance with international standards.
